the point is that everything is temporary. but there are these moments, these gaps in time that are perfect for exactly what they are. they are the things artists try to capture with their words and music and brushes.
but at the time youll never see them. youre too caught up in the past and the future. in the what you have done, in what you need to do. you may look at the edges of beauty. you may think how lovely she is, how your heart beats against your ribs, how you dare to put your lips to theirs…
but the present is always mundane compared to what comes next.
and it is only as it slips from your fingers, when you lose it completely to the black hole of time that youll know the weight of that moment.
and youll think: if only, if only i had eyes to see it for what it was.

every month or so, my fiance will replace our toothbrushes with new ones. mine is always pink and his is usually green or blue. so, the other day he replaces them and i went in to brush my teeth and see he’s using the new pink toothbrush. i blinked and he looked me square in the eye from the mirror with paste-foam mouth and said, ‘FUCK GENDER STEREOTYPES I WANTED PINK OKAY??’
